A bomb expert, Edward Onoriode has said that houses erected nearby NNPC pipelines or gaslines be cleared immediately.

According to him, this is one of the ways to curtail explosions of this magnitude, especially the recent occurrence at Abule Ado.

Onoriode who conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the gas explosion that occurred at the affected area explained that the kind of impact that occurred yesterday was not one of a bomb but a pipeline.

The certified bomb expert who is a member of the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators agreed with the NNPC report that blamed the explosion on pressurized gas pipelines.

"From all the information I gathered from my colleagues who were part of the first responders

"The gas explosion was ignited by an extensively charged atmosphere that emanated from a gas cylinder leakage.

"The gas explosion also ignited NNPC pipeline which resulted to a combined explosion. The shock wave from the scene of the explosion travelled far and tore all buildings, or any obstacles that obstructed the wave from it motion.

"Properties worth millions were damaged and over 15 people were unfortunately killed after the sad explosion.

"There was no traces of IED at the scene of explosion," Edward said.

The expert who noted this was just a preliminary investigation recommended that houses around pipelines and gaslines be cleared.

"The houses in the area close to NNPC pipeline and gasline should all be cleared. They are not approved houses," he pointed out.
