An exchange between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and a social media user has sparked reactions online.
It began when an X user, @Kingclemency797, revealed his intention to learn internet fraud due to the hardship in the country.
The social media user made a public appeal to anyone who could teach him internet scams, citing his family's suffering as his motivation.
He lamented the government’s failure to cater to the masses and expressed his belief that engaging in fraud could improve his family’s life even if it meant he would end up in jail.
The desperate user also hinted at his interest in taking a “snapshot” with the EFCC.
@Kingclemency797 wrote: “Please, someone should teach me how to commit fraud. At least my family should enjoy the money while I’m in jail! Nigeria is hard, and those people stealing money can’t help people like us… I want to learn yahoo yahoo. Please hit my DMs if you can. Wanna take an EFCC snapshot too!!”
In response, the EFCC humorously replied, inviting him to their office for the snapshot before proceeding with his plans.
“You can come for the snapshot first. It’s always free,” the EFCC wrote.
This response drew reactions from Nigerians across social media.
