The Igbanke General Union Worldwide has rubbished a faceless group for leading a demonstration with a message that Igbanke is not Bini but of Ibo origin.

The union described itself as the highest constituted, elected body of all Igbanke people across the globe and with the authority to tell the public to disregard the said protest/content circulation across social media space.

In a statement jointly signed by the President, Igbanke General Union Worldwide, Engr/Dr.Usiagwil Arthur Osaretin, and the Secretary General, Mr. Uwayah Celestin Osadolor, the union said the unknown faceless group was not authorized to speak on behalf of Igbanke people.

The union said, "Igbanke is an autonomous community in Edo State that speaks Igbanke dialect, a variant of ika language.

"The leadership of Igbanke General Union Worldwide has NOT officially released a statement and also has NOT mandated any group or persons to do so on behalf of the Union.

"Igbanke General Union Worldwide leadership appeal to all Igbanke sons and daughters to exercise restraint and avoid unnecessary commentary/debate/interviews that may further exacerbate the current situation.

"We hereby enjoin all our community members to count on the leadership of IGU Worldwide for direction in articulating Igbanke position."
