The Borno State Police Command has deployed tactical teams, surveillance squads, and operatives of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit to ensure adequate security in the state ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit.
A statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, said there would also be temporary vehicular restrictions and diversions in some parts of the state to facilitate the smooth movement of VIPs and ensure public safety.
The statement read: “The Borno State Police Command has deployed adequate security arrangements ahead of the visit of the President to Borno State scheduled for today 20th December, 2025.
“The state Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, has drafted a robust security architecture comprising conventional police personnel, tactical teams, surveillance squads, crowed control and Explosive Ordnance Disposal units to ensure a safe, secure, and hitch free visit”
“Members of the public are hereby informed that at intervals, certain roads, particularly the parallel route from Airport Road to Shehu Road, Maiduguri may experience temporary vehicular restrictions or diversions to facilitate the smooth movement of VIPs and ensure public safety.”
He urged motorists and residents to remain patient and comply with lawful directives of security personnel on duty.
“The Command reassures residents of its commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the presidential visit, and calls for the continued cooperation, vigilance, and support of the public” he added.
PUNCH on Friday reported that the President was proceeding on a three-state visit to Borno, Bauchi and Lagos states on Saturday.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said that while in Borno State, President Tinubu will commission some projects undertaken by Governor Babagana Zulum and the Federal Government.
“He will also attend the wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of the former Governor of the State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and his heartthrob, Hadiza Kam Salem” it said.
Bayo further stated that from Maiduguri, the President will move to Bauchi to condole with the Government of Bauchi State and the family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, the late renowned Muslim cleric and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood.

“After the condolence visit, President Bola Tinubu will leave for Lagos, where he will spend the upcoming end-of-year holiday” he said
Bayo added that the President is expected to be the guest of honour at the Eyo Festival scheduled for December 27, among his numerous engagements while in the city.
“The festival at Tafawa Balewa Square will honour prominent figures, including President Tinubu’s mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, and former governors Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Michael Otedola,” he stated.
