A video that purportedly shows billions of naira being transported to a location where it will reportedly be destroyed has emerged online.

In the now-viral video, the compressed bundles of money are being transported in a trailer to the southern part of the country.

The location and time the video was taken couldn't be ascertained by MyNigeria at the time of filing this report.

One of the men in the video in a conversation with a colleague said: “There is no poverty in this land".

Both men spoke Hausa.

Below is their dialogue

MAN 1: “There is no poverty in this land, between us and them, only God will judge between us. It is money that has been compressed into this grain format.

MAN 2: “1000 notes, 200 and 500 notes, I swear by God, this is the reality, we are in the south not in the north. I swear by God, may God bring us good leaders, we have left whoever has robbed us with God.”

According to the driver of the car, he didn't know he was transporting such an amount of money.

Both men believe the money has become worthless after the Central Bank of Nigeria announced plans to redesign the currency.
