Celtic head coach Brendan Rodgers has showered encomiums on Kelechi Iheanacho following his impressive display against Crvena zvezda in the Europa League.
The Super Eagles forward came off the bench at halftime to give Celtic the lead ten minutes after the interval, before Marko Arnautović equalized in the 65th minute.
In a post-match press conference, Rodgers described Iheanacho's goal as outstanding.
“I thought Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal was outstanding,” Rodgers told TNT Sports, via BBC.
“I wanted us to be more proactive in the game, but overall, it was a nice first step for us in the competition.
“We needed someone centrally to hold the ball up. I felt we arrived in the final third, and in the first half we were loose. One of Kele’s great strengths is that he can take the ball in and progress us up the pitch, and he gave us a better platform.”
Iheanacho has hit the ground running after joining the Scottish giants from Sevilla in the summer.
