'He does not deserve this' - Remo Omokri fires over treatment of ex CBN boss, Godwin Emefiele

Reno Omokri, a former presidential staffer has described the federal government's treatment of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele as a travesty of justice.

Recall that Emefiele was arraigned at a federal high court sitting in Lagos on two counts bordering on the alleged illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The Ministry of Justice is prosecuting the former CBN Governor on charges of possessing a single-barrelled shotgun (JOJEFF MAGNUM 8371) without a license.

He is also accused of illegally being in possession of 23 rounds of live ammunition (cartridges) without a license.

The defendant committed the offenses on June 15, 2023, at No. 3b Iru Close, Ikoyi area of Lagos.

However, reacting to the treatment of Emefiele, Reno Omokri opined that the ex-CBN Governor doesn't deserve what is being meted out to him. He said further that his trial is politically motivated.

"Let me go on record as saying that I firmly believe what is being done to the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is a travesty. The charges against him appear politically motivated. He does not deserve this treatment. If he were not a minority, I am convinced he would not be facing his current ordeal. My prayers are with you, Godwin Emefiele," Reno Omokri wrote in his post.
