Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has recalled sharing a bunk bed with Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat during their boarding school days nearly 50 years ago.
Otedola shared the memory on X on Monday after hosting a dinner in Hamzat’s honour. Hamzat is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
Calling Hamzat a man of integrity, Otedola said their long relationship had been defined by honesty, sincerity, fairness and strong moral principles.
The dinner drew prominent businessmen, including Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu.
Hamzat became the APC’s Lagos governorship candidate in May after winning the party primary. He received 657,917 votes, according to the announced results, while challenger Olanrewaju Jim-Kamal received one.
Hamzat has been deputy governor since 2019. He is seeking to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whose second term ends in 2027.
