Guru Maharaj Ji wants FG to arrest Sheikh Gumi

Spiritual Leader, Satguru Maharaj ji, has allegedly called on the federal government to arrest Sheik Ahmad Gumi for supposedly aiding and abetting banditry and terrorism in the country.

His comment comes in the wake of the utterances of Sheikh Gumi supporting and defending the bandits.

The founder of One Love Family, in a statement released on Sunday, February 28, 2021, said that Gumi's utterances allegedly justifying the actions of the bandits proof his stands on terrorism.

In a publication cited on Legit.ng, Guru quoted Sheikh Gumi as saying in a TV programme that the Fulani were into kidnapping to make money, as they had no civilisation, stating that such justification was uncalled for and dangerous for the peace of the country.

It was earlier reported that the North East Elders for Peace and Development has warned Sheikh Gumi against justifying illegal acts and other criminality engulfing the north.

The elders feared that recent comments and attitudes of the cleric could embolden the bandits.

The elders dissociated themselves from comments made by Gumi where he accused the Nigerian military of triggering the raging banditry in parts of the north, the elders also accused the cleric of making wild and unsubstantiated claims.
