Guns alone can’t stop security threats in the country - Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has revealed that guns and swords alone cannot defeat the security threats in the country.

According to the spokesperson of the army, Brig.-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu the level of the security challenges facing the country is beyond the use of guns.

The spokesperson said this in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at a ceremony to mark his assumption of duty.

"Permit me to note here that it is an indisputable and very well established fact that the sword or gun cannot alone, provide a panacea to the complex and multifaceted security challenges that characterise today’s world."

The General called for a multi-disciplinary approach in dealing with the challenges of insecurities. He also charged the media to partner with the Nigerian army to end the security threats in the country.

General Nwachukwu was appointed spokesperson of the army after his predecessor Brig Gen Mohammed Yerima.
