Gunmen attack Ebonyi community hours after SE Governors launched EbubeAgu

Gunmen stormed and attacked the Ebele village in Umuogodo Akpu, Mgbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi on Sunday, April 11, 2021.

The incident was confirmed by Commissioner of Police Aliyu Garba. He said the number of casualties remains unclear.

Ebonyi Commissioner for internal security and border peace Stanley Okoro-Emegha who also confirmed the attack disclosed that while some said it was a communal crisis, others said it was carried out by herdsmen, LIB reports.

He also revealed that they are yet to unravel those behind the attack and the number of lives and properties destroyed.

The attack occurred hours after the governors of the south-east region announced the formation of a joint security outfit, codenamed ‘Ebube Agu’.
