Gunmen abduct businessman, kill driver in Ondo

A yet to be identified businessman has been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers along Ise-Isua-Akoko road.

The driver of the businessman was however shot dead and left to die inside the car.

Police Area Commander in charge of Ikare Akoko, ACP Razak Rauf Ikare, who confirmed the incident said the remains of the late driver, has been deposited at the mortuary of the State Specialist hospital Ikare Akoko.

It was gathered that the kidnappers have begun negotiating for ransom payment by the family.

But ACP Rauf said the police would comb the forest with a view to rescuing the victim and arrest the criminals.

Chief Medical Director of Ikare Specialist hospital, Dr Ayodele Ogunlade, confirmed to journalists that police brought a corpse to the hospital.
