A non-partisan network of individuals and organisation, Enough is Enough Nigeria, has inaugurated an Office of the Citizen WhatsApp-enabled bot known as CHATBOT to engage Nigerians on their civic rights and demand accountability in all levels of government.

According to a statement made available to The PUNCH on Sunday, the software application was unveiled to the public during the presentation of the organisation’s book, “Footprints: Past. Present. Future” and fund-raising event held to commemorate its 12th anniversary at Onikan in Lagos.

The EiE Nigeria’s Executive Director, Yemi Adamolekun, in her address, called on citizens to identify the government official/office responsible for each issue and search online or send EiE a message and engage the duty bearer until the result was achieved.

Adamolekun said, “Nigerians need to understand the importance of the office of the citizen hence this new assistant on civic engagement. It is a WhatsApp bot and it will assist citizens to know their elected officials such as governors, senators, and the House of Representatives members, state House of Assembly members, Local Government chairmen and councillors.

“CHATBOT would also assist with registration, PVC collection, polling unit locator and debates. Now that you know your rights and understand how to engage in the electoral process, it’s time to occupy your office of the citizens because an active citizen should solve problems and hold government officials accountable.”

In his response during the interactive session at the event, the Executive Producer of #WithChude, Chude Jideonwo, encouraged Nigerians and was quoted as saying, “Vote right is a cliché. A robust democracy is about to turn out and anytime we turn out to vote in large numbers is a warning to coup plotters and election riggers that we have chosen this way.”
