Scott Bolshevik, a financial analyst and economist has hailed President Bola Tinubu's move to allocate 500,000 hectares of farmland for jobless Nigerian youths to alleviate poverty and reduce importation of farm produce.

Bolshevik, who is also a historian described the policy direction as "
most efficient way to reduce poverty in developing countries".

"This is great. That's the most efficient way to reduce poverty in developing countries. Great job," he made this known in a tweet.

Recall that President Tinubu had ordered the deployment of initiatives to cushion the effect of rising food costs on vulnerable Nigerians.

Dele Alake, special adviser to the president on special duties, communications and strategy, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja.

Mr Alake also said part of the initiatives was the allocation of farmland to boost food output and reduce the country’s unemployment rate.

He said that in line with this administration’s position on ensuring that the most vulnerable are supported, Mr. President has declared, with immediate effect the following actions:

• That a state of emergency on food security be announced immediately, and

• That all matters pertaining to food & water availability and affordability, as essential livelihood items, be included within the purview of the National Security Council.
