Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has addressed residents at the scene of the Unguwan Rukuba massacre in Jos North LGA of the state.
Muftwang, who visited the scene on Monday, was accompanied by heavily armed security guards. He was seen addressing the angry crowd from an armoured vehicle.
Protest had erupted on Monday following a 48-hour curfew declared by the state government following the massacre that happened on Palm Sunday.
“The Plateau State Government, in conjunction with security agencies, wishes to inform the general public of the imposition of a 48-hour curfew within Jos North Local Government Area with immediate effect,” state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, announced.
However, the protesters claimed that the curfew was not enough to curb the repeated violence witnessed in the state.
Meanwhile, the police on Monday announced that 14 bodies have been recovered so far as a result of the massacre by gunmen.
