Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has stated that his administration will not demolish anyone's property for easement during the course of road construction in the state.

The governor disclosed after an inspection of road projects at their completion stage.

According to Dapo Abiodun, walkways which were supposed to be part of road underconstruction, were excluded because such would have led to the demolition of some structures

In a statement issued on social media, Dapo Abiodun stated that going through with the idea for walkways would have caused hardship to people.

His statement reads:

"We will not demolish anyone's property for easement while constructing roads in the State. We will not bring hardship to our people, as we promised during campaign.

I made this assurance today during my assessment visit to the two roads, which are both at their completion stages and which we are set to be commissioned. Residents had requested they would love to have walkways alongside the Ikola-Navy-Osi and AIT Roads in Ado-Odo/Otta, but I explained that we had to remove this from the original plan, as it would require demolition of personal property.

I have however instructed the contractors to cover the drainages which align the roads, which are about seven metres wide, such that they may serve as the requested walkways".
