A student in Gombe State who tested positive for COVID-19 sat for his second paper in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 under close monitoring.

The unnamed student of Gombe Senior Secondary School was transported to his school laboratory in an ambulance from his isolation centre to enable him to take his Chemistry practical examination.

The Gombe State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre disclosed this in a message posted on its Twitter handle, @GombePHEOC, on Tuesday.

The centre had on Monday announced that the candidate who tested positive to the virus on Sunday sat for his first examination, Mathematics, from his isolation centre.

The centre tweeted: “COVID-19 cannot stop our positive student from taking the practical Chemistry today.

“We ensured that he was transported under Infection Prevention and Control to the Chemistry laboratory in his school.

“The invigilator was counselled and given Personal Protective Equipment and the laboratory was decontaminated afterwards.”
