The Lagos State Government has finally responded to the ban placed on motorcycles and tricycles in the State.
The State Government said that Gokada, O'Pay, and Okada were not part of the Greater Lagos journey they envisioned.
Sticking by their decision to clampdown on two-wheels and three-wheels vehicles, the State Government noted that youths have turned away from learning artisan trades like printing, bricklaying, tailoring into riding of bikes and tricycles that was not fated to last.
"Now we get artisans from neighbouring countries. Okada is not an enduring trade," the state government tweeted.
The Government also promised to put an end to bloody encounters of overloading a bike or keke, adding that it will not allow the state to slide into lawlessness.
"The Government will not stand by and watch this bloody encounter to continue. Besides, the security of lives of Lagosians are of paramount interest to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration.
To serve as a palliative, the State Government called attention to the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation which will cater for the mass number of people pushed out of their jobs.
