The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has revealed what he said God told him concerning the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State.
The victims were kidnapped on May 15 from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. During their captivity, the kidnappers reportedly killed a mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, and circulated a video of the killing.
Speaking in a viral video from the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington, D.C., Adeboye said the incident compelled him to seek God’s intervention through intense prayer.
“I was compelled to cry unto God because we have been fasting and praying for a particular group of school children who were captured. Some people then began to speak, challenging those of us who said we had been praying. They said, ‘You are fasting, you are praying, where is your God?'”
The cleric said he prayed over the criticism and the fate of the abducted victims before receiving what he described as a divine message.
“God spoke to me. He told me that the release of the children is going to be dramatic.”
According to Adeboye, God did not reveal when or how the children would regain their freedom but assured him that the situation was under divine control.
“He did not tell me the time or the details. He also spoke about what would happen to those who have been sponsoring terrorism and kidnapping in Nigeria.”
Adeboye also recalled advising President Bola Tinubu in 2024 to direct the nation’s security agencies to take decisive action against terrorism and kidnapping.
According to him, the President later met with him and subsequently issued directives to security chiefs.
The RCCG leader also defended Tinubu against criticism over insecurity, saying the President had fulfilled his responsibility as Commander-in-Chief by giving instructions to the relevant security agencies.
“When the Commander-in-Chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki.”
