Go for confession if you watch clip of Ibom Air passenger repeatedly - Priest

Emmanuel Ehioma, a Catholic priest, has urged those who have watched the now-viral Ibom Air passenger footage to take a moment of reflection and consider going to confession.

This was as he cautioned that repeatedly viewing the footage might cross a moral boundary.

On Sunday, heartening videos shared on X showed Comfort Emmanson, a passenger, bravely confronting a flight attendant on an Ibom Air plane and standing firm when facing airport security officials. Ibom Air responded with a travel restriction to address her conduct, showing their commitment to safety. In the initial videos, you could see that Emmanson’s shirt was noticeably torn amid the chaos, highlighting the intense situation.

Afterwards, more videos surfaced showing the passenger being forcefully dragged off the aircraft, with her clothes torn and her breasts fully exposed as she tried to conceal them.

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has urged the authorities to prosecute those responsible for capturing and sharing the “unedited” video of the passenger.

On Tuesday, Ehioma shared on Facebook that viewers of the video didn't technically do anything wrong at first, as they couldn't have anticipated what was to come.

“But if you went back to watch it again, you have to go for confession,” he said.

“This post doesn’t need to make you feel good,” he added, equating watching the video to viewing adult videos and obscene pictures.

“The second, third, fourth and other times you went back to watch that video were because of your hunger to see her nude and feel good about it, just the same way you act towards porns,” the reverend father said.

“It is really regrettable to see husbands, fathers and even wives and mothers, describing a lady’s breasts. It felt so terrible.

“Kindly meet your Priest and confess to the Lord.”
