The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the death of 17-year-old Chiamaka Chukwuokore, who was allegedly pushed from a two-storey building in Owerri on November 1, 2026.

Police said the incident occurred on Mbonu Ejike Street, Ikeneagbu, and that a 26-year-old suspect, Ifeanyi Chukwu Joseph, was arrested. Chukwuokore sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where she died on the evening of November 3 while receiving treatment.

Following her death, the suspect is now facing a murder allegation and remains in police custody as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, psc(+), mnips, expressed condolences to the victim’s family and said a thorough investigation is underway.

The command urged the public to remain calm, avoid sharing unverified information and allow police to carry out their duties.
