Ghana to deport 494 Nigerians

Ghana is planning to deport 494 Nigerians who were arrested for entering into the country illegally.

This was announced by the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and spokesperson for the Regional Police Command, David Fianko-Okyere in an interview in Bolgatanga.

He noted that out of 507 illegal immigrants arrested in Ghana, 494 are Nigerians.

Mr Fianko-Okyere said a 24-hour patrol on highways and swoop has been put in play in the Bolgatanga region.

This move he said, led to the arrest of 507 foreigners in Bolgatanga and its environs.

This was after residents of the region complained of the alarming crime rate perpetuated by illegal foreigners.

The spokesperson noted that said preliminary investigations by the Ghana Police Service will be conducted before deportation.
