Nigerian singer Mavo has responded after an old tweet he wrote about Afrobeats star Davido resurfaced online, drawing renewed backlash from social media users.

The 2023 post, shared under his X handle @mavoswago, made a serious allegation against Davido, with Mavo writing at the time: "more like attempted murder... he tried to k*ll his new baby."

The tweet, originally posted in reaction to another user's comment asking, "Wetin de sup with Davido? I'm lost," came after the news of the birth of twins by his wife Chioma in October 2023

The post has since resurfaced and gone viral, promoting backlash from the online community.

However, rather than directly address the content of the old post, Mavo brushed off the backlash, pointing instead to his current achievements as a rising Afrobeats star.

"ppl go just wake up dey cry for nothing!! oga go work! I have a record label and a storefront at 22, pls get your life together & stop dissecting my past thoughts," he wrote.

Mavo, born Oseremen Marvin Ukanigbe, rose to prominence in 2025 with hits including "Escaladizzy" and "Shakabulizzy," and has since collaborated with major acts including Wizkid and CKay.

The resurfaced tweet is the latest in a string of old posts from the singer that have recently come under scrutiny online.
