Former governor of Ogun state and the lawmaker representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has written to the H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, CON to notify him of his decision to suspend his monthly payment of N676,376.95kobo.

This money he said is the amount paid for his pension and allowances as former governor of Ogun state.

Sharing a copy of the letter, Senator Gbenga Daniel wrote;

"After my inauguration at the Senate, I wrote H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, CON on June 14, 2023, to notify him of my decision to have the monthly payment of N676,376.95kobo being gross payment for my pension and allowances as former governor of the Ogun State suspended immediately.

This decision, I made, in good conscience, moral principles and guiding ethics.

It is also important to state that this is the only payment and package I get from the state government as a former governor."

This has sparked massive reactions from Nigerians who trooped to his Twitter page to slam the Senator over his recent action.

Many wondered why he waited 12 years later to take the decision. He was also called out for choosing to suspend the payment rather than terminate his pension and allowance.
