Gas explosion rocks Ipaja, Lagos

Residents living around the Baruwa-Ipaja axis of Lagos woke up to a loud bang in the early hours of Thursday after an inferno.

Media reports say the explosion occurred at a gas processing plant situated in the area around 5:45 am.

The fire was able to spread rapidly due to the failure of fire service officials to arrive at the scene on time.

However, the state emergency agency already informed the public that its response plan has been activated.

First responders including men of the Lagos Fire Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency have been drafted to the area.

GAS STATION CURRENTLY ON FIRE IN BARUWA AREA OF LAGOS, EXPLOSION OCCURRED AROUND 6.00AM.
The Agency has activated our emergency response plan.
