Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was left out of the farewell message from Gabriel Martinelli, who just joined Al Hilal.

The 25-year-old’s record-breaking £60 million transfer to a Saudi Pro League club was officially confirmed on Thursday.

Martinelli’s departure from Arsenal was marked by a social media message in which he thanked everyone at the club—security staff, media team, physiotherapists, and doormen—without mentioning Arteta or sharing an image of the Spanish manager.

It appears that Arteta preferred other players like Christos Tzolis and Ebere Eze on the left flank, which contributed to Martinelli’s move.

Martinelli wrote: “I can only thank the staff and my teammates. Thank you to the chefs, kit staff, doctors, doormen, security staff, media team, cleaning staff, physios and every single teammate who has been part of my story from 2019 until today.

“And to the fans, thank you for everything. Since my first day, you made me feel at home. Every time I stepped on the pitch, despite everything, I tried to give everything I had for this shirt. To Arsenal, thank you for believing in me and giving me the chance to show myself to the world.”
