Super Eagles line-up against Guinea-Bissau Super Eagles line-up against Guinea-Bissau

Moses Simon's 30th-minute spot kick was the difference as the Super Eagles beat Guinea-Bissau 1-0 at the Estadio 24 Setembro Stadium in Bissau in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Bright Osaye-Samuel, Moses Simon and Semi Ajayi were among the top performers on the day.

The Super Eagles bounced back to winning ways after four straight defeats to Costa Rica, Algeria, Portugal and Guinea-Bissau.

In this piece, we evaluate the individual performance of the Super Eagles stars who were in action yesterday, March 27.

Francis Uzoho 6/10: The Omonia Nicosia shot-stopper had a fairly good game in post for the Super Eagles. He had barely anything to do during the game except for a few circumstances he was called to action.

Semi Ajayi 7/10: The West Brom defender was among the top Super Eagles performers on the day. He was solid in defence and barely put a foot wrong.

Kenneth Omeruo 7/10: The Leganes defender started the game as the skipper. He marshalled the defence to provide much cover for Francis Uzoho.

Bright Osayi-Samuel 8.5/10: The Fenerbahce full-back was once again phenomenal for the Super Eagles. The young defender was undisputedly the man of the match. He won the penalty that led to the only goal of the game.

Zaidu Sanusi 6/10: The FC Porto defender had a fairly good game even though he didn't have much defending to do. His contribution in the attack was also minimal.

Frank Onyeka 6/10: He replaced Ndidi in the line-up and had an okay game. He was occasionally dispossessed in the midfield area.

Alex Iwobi 7/10: The Everton star had a fairly decent game even though he couldn't create many chances for the attackers. His shots were also off-target.

Moses Simon 7/10: The Nantes winger scored the winner from 12 yards on the half-hour mark. He was a constant threat to the opposition's defence.

Samuel Chukwueze 5.5/10: The Villarreal forward was very disappointing against the Djurtus. His final balls were bad coupled with poor decision-making in the attacking third.

Victor Osimhen 6/10: The Napoli Starman has struggled to replicate his club form with the National team. Unlike the first leg, Osimhen had a few shots at goal, but the cutting edge was lacking.

Terem Moffi 6/10: The OGC Nice attacker was decent even though he couldn't score. His link-up play with the midfielders and wingers was impressive.

Joe Aribo 6/10: He replaced Moffi in the second half but couldn't make any real impact on the game. He had a good chance to double the lead for the Super Eagles, but his effort was parried by the goalkeeper.
