The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has called on President Ahmed Tinubu led Federal Government to consider provision of more funds to ease the operations of the officers of The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

He expressed fear over the proliferation of drug addicts in Nigeria, saying revitalization of rehabilitation centers across the nation is needed to reintegrate drug victims into the society.

Oluwo made the call today while receiving the zone I zonal commander of the NDLEA, Titus Awogbuyi Joyce Oluwatoyin and his team in his palace today.

He stated those measures will arrest many young ones from the street of uselessness to that of usefulness. Oluwo called on wealthy individuals to extend helping hands to the agency.

"Drug addiction is a pandemic killing more people than corona virus and bokoharam combined. The menace must be addressed through collaborative efforts of NDLEA officers, government and the society.

"The Federal Government led by President Ahmed Tinubu should consider provision of more funding for the NDLEA to enhance effective operation and encourage officers to discharge their duties efficiently.

"President Tinubu should further consider revatilization of rehabilitation centers across the nation to ensure repented addicts are managed and incorporated into the society. The step will arrest most of them from the streets of uselessness to that of usefulness.

"Wealthy individuals should also assist the agency morally and financially to address drug fighting and checkmating."
