Full tank na your mate - Laughs on Arise TV as fuel price hits N617 per litre at NNPC filling stations

Arise TV hosts, Rufai Oseni, Dr Reuben Abati and Ogynika Okpe made light of the fuel crisis that has clouded President Bola Tinubu's administration since he his inauguration on May 29.

While he introduced Ogy for the What's Trending segment of the show, Dr Abati, who is former political appointee asked Ogy is she had bought fuel at the new rate.

This follows reports that fuel prices had increased to N617 per litre at NNPC filling stations.

Dr Abati: I hope you have been buying fuel at the new rates

Ogy: We not have a choice Dr Abati, do we? it is scary but you cant fill up your tank this days You just buy what you can afford.

Rufai: Fill up na your mate? You cant try.

The price of petrol has increased to about N617 per litre according to reports.

Daily Post reports that the price at an NNPC filling stations along the Kubwa expressway and Utako in Abuja had increased their prices from N539 to N617 per litre.

This development was confimed in an interview by the National President of the Independent Petroleum Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo on Tuesday.

According to him, fuel prices will continue fluctuating depending on market forces.

“That is the regime we are in with removing fuel subsidies. The prices will continue to fluctuate based on market forces and the changes in Dollar in the foreign exchange market. That is why we are pushing for an alternative to fuel”, he stated.

The development comes amid speculation of an upward review of fuel pump prices nationwide.

Recall that on the removal of fuel subsidy in June by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, the product had skyrocketed from N190/per litre to over N500/per litre.

Speaking to DAILY POST, some motorists said the policies of the current administration are becoming very harsh on the citizens.
