Full list of APC, PDP and Labour Party governorship candidates in Kogi state emerge

Political parties have begun selecting their preferred candidates ahead of the Kogi state governorship election to be held on November 11, 2023.

Kogi state will hold its gubernatorial election later this year as a result of the court cases during the previous election that occurred in the state.

After the primaries were conducted, Senator Dino Melaye emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Usman-Ododo will represent the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and Adejo Okeme is contesting the ticket of the Labour Party (LP).

The Top major contenders for Kogi poll includes;

1. Senator Dino Melaye - PDP governorship candidate

The former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye was the spokesperson for the presidential campaign council of the PDP.

He clinched the party ticket to contest for the state governorship election.

Dino Melaye polled 313 votes to beat his major contender, Jabiru Usman who polled 127 votes, in the primary election.

He is determined to win the Kogi election and become the next governor of the state.

2. Ahmed Usman-Ododo - APC governorship candidate

Ahmed Usman-Ododo emerged winner of the APC primaries.

He defeated Shaibu Audu, Stephen Ochen, Sanusi Ohiare, Smart Adeyemi to be the gubernatorial candidate that will contest other parties’ candidates.

Usman-Ododo polled 78,704, beating his closest rival Audu who polled 763, Ochen got 552, Ohiare scored 424, and Adeyemi polled 311 votes.

3. Adejo Okeme - Labour Party’s Kogi governorship candidate

Barrister Adejo Okeme has been selected to lead his party to victory in the Kogi election.

He beat his closest contender Isaac Alfa in Kogi state APC governorship primary election to emerge as the candidate of the party.

Okeme polled 127 votes, while Alfa scored 69 votes during the Labour Party governorship primary of the state.

Okeme is said to be a legal practitioner and businessman from Kogi East senatorial district.
