Some Fulani leaders have apologized to the people of Iganga for the crimes committed by herdsmen.

The leaders are Seriki Fulani of Igbo Ora, Alhaji Idris Abubakar, and the Seriki Fulani of Eruwa, Alhaji Sule Mohammed.

They apologized for the wrongs done by their kinsmen and asked for forgiveness after some townsmen narrated how they are being oppressed by the Fulani herders who kidnap and molest them in their own lands.

The disclosure was made at a town hall meeting attended by the new police commissioner, Ngozi Onadeko, and a government delegation led by Fatai Owoseni, a retired police commissioner, who is Governor Seyi Makinde’s special adviser on security.

The leaders of the Fulani in Igangan, Saliu Abdukadir was absent as other traditional rulers in the area were in attendance.

The apology came after the Secretary of Igangan Development Advocates, Lawal Akeem, said that the people were tired of the antics of the Abdukadir, whom he accused of complicity in different criminal cases, according to PMNews Nigeria.

He also said that the community has been forced to pay about N50 million in ransom for different cases of kidnapping.
