A University of Maiduguri student was said to have arrived at the campus on a donkey due to a hike in transport fares.

This was made known by a Twitter user on Friday.

Sharing a picture of the student on the donkey with the caption, “Student of University of Maiduguri storms campus on his Donkey due to hike in fuel price.”

Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, May 29, 2023 announced in his inauguration speech that the fuel subsidy regime has been suspended.

Tinubu revealed that the regime was no longer sustainable at this time in Nigeria.

The announcement immediately made pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to soar with the least going for N500 per litre.

Most fuel stations have also adjusted their dispensing machines to tune in to the new reality.
