There is need for Nigerians and federal government to review their stand over the new pump price increase, Stanley Osifo, a former presidential hopeful in the 2019 general elections under the umbrella of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said.

In a telephone conversation with The Nation from his base in Benin-City, the Edo state capital, at the weekend, Osifo stressed the need for the federal government to educate Nigerians on its policies on where the country is heading so as to prepare their minds to adapt to the new normal.

Osifo who is also a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noted that the new agenda on the deregulation of the downstream sector of the oil and gas industry would be beneficial to Nigerians on the long run.

The business mogul-turned politician, while noting that Nigerians are going to experience a hike in the prices of commodities and other consumable items in the market as a result of increase in the electricity tariff and fuel pump price, however tasked the National Orientation Agency (NOA), to orientate Nigerians on government policies to forestall credibility crisis in the future.

“So I urge Nigerians to wait and see the benefits they are going to derive from this and how it’s going to affect the generality of their well-being,” he stressed.
