Fuel Subsidy: Atiku is a desperate and drowning man - Keyamo

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has described former vice president Atiku Abubakar as a desperate and drowning man for proposing the return of fuel subsidy.

MyNigeria reported that President Bola Tinubu ended the fuel subsidy policy on May 29, 2023, in his first speech as President.

The move has since seen Nigeria save N15tr, with states now having enough to pay salaries and embark on infrastructural projects.

However, Atiku is of the opinion that there is nothing to show for the policy, which he says has brought untold hardship to Nigerians.

In a statement on Thursday, the former vice president, who is seeking to be elected President in 2027, announced that he would restore fuel subsidy but with a new model.

This has been condemned by the Presidency, describing the proposal as lacking fiscal sense.

Also reacting, Keyamo shared on X, "The thoughtlessness of a desperate and drowning man who wants to pander to base sentiments."
