Governor Siminalayi Fubara has ordered the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, announced an end to the emergency rule and reinstatement of Fubara as governor of Rivers State.

This is the first major decision by the Fubara-led government after the expiration of the six-month emergency rule.

Fubara directed that the functions of the board will henceforth be handled by the Office of the Accountant General of Rivers State.

As reported by Channels Television, the Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi Brown made this known in a statement issued on Friday, September 26, 2025.

The governor also ordered members of the defunct board to hand over all properties and assets of the board in their possession to the Director of Administration in the pensions office.

According to the statement, Governor Fubara will, in due course, constitute a new board to oversee pension matters in the state. It was gathered that the Pensions Board was not among the state boards reconstituted by the immediate past emergency rule administration.

Tinubu summons ex-Rivers administrator Ibas to Abuja

Recall that the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers state, Ibok-Ete Ibas, was at the state house in Abuja.

Although the reason for his presence at the Aso Villa could not be immediately ascertained, it was gathered that the president summoned him.

Ibas, who took over the affairs of the state in March following the suspension of Siminalayi Fubara, had recently handed power back to the governor.
