Fubara's supporters want fight with Wike to continue - Shehu Sani

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has stated that supporters of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State are unhappy that he ended his fight with his predecessor, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

MyNigeria reported that President Bola Tinubu hosted a reconciliation meeting on Thursday night at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, bringing together all the figures in the Rivers State political crisis.

Fubara, Wike, Speaker Martins Amaewhule, and other Rivers State Assembly members attended the closed-door session.

On March 18, President Tinubu declared a state of emergency, suspending the Governor, his deputy, and all members of the State House of Assembly.

This was after the state was plunged into turmoil due to the political differences of the gladiators running the state.

Speaking after the peace meeting, Wike said, "We have all agreed to work together. Everything is over. We are members of the same political family. As humans, we have disagreements. We also have time to settle the disagreements. There is no more acrimony. Everything is over. It's a day we have to thank the Almighty.

On his part, Fubara said, "It’s important that this day has come. What we need in Rivers is peace. We shall do everything in our power to sustain peace in Rivers State."

Reacting, Sani said Fubara's supporters want the fight between him and Wike to continue.

He wrote on X, "The reconciliation efforts in Rivers are good news. Peace needs to return to the state, and Fubara needs to return to his seat as soon as possible. I know that those who fought for Fubara are not happy and want him to continue fighting. Fubara is Sim and not Comrade Sowore. The battle may not be over but let peace return to Rivers for now."
