Five Nigerian players have now reached at least 100 caps for Super Eagles with Paris FC winger Moses Simon becoming the latest player to hit this incredible milestone during Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday, September 25.

The 31-year-old won his 100th cap for Nigeria after coming on as a second-half substitute against the Indian Ocean islanders.

The former Nantes winger became only the fifth Nigerian player to achieve this milestone.

The legendary Nigerian defender was the first-ever player to reach 100 appearances for the Super Eagles. Yobo spent a remarkable 13 years with the national team. He made his debut for the Super Eagles against Zambia in a World Cup qualifier on March 24, 2001.

The former Everton defender’s last appearance for Nigeria came against France in the Round of 16 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup on June 30, where he scored a last-minute own goal. Yobo played at three World Cups and six AFCONs, scoring seven goals in his 101 appearances for Nigeria.

2. Vincent Enyeama — 101 caps (2002–2015)

The legendary goalkeeper was the second Nigerian player to cross the 100-appearance mark, equalling Joseph Yobo’s record of 101 caps. Enyeama also spent 13 remarkable years with the national team. Enyeama made his debut for Nigeria against Kenya in May 2002.

The former Lille goalkeeper earned his 101st and final Super Eagles cap in a 2-0 win over Chad in an AFCON qualifier in October 2015. Enyeama recorded a remarkable 50 clean sheets in his 101 appearances for Nigeria. He was a key member of the team that won the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.

3. Ahmed Musa — 111 caps (2010–2025)

Ahmed Musa is the third player to reach a century of appearances for Nigeria and remains the record holder for the most appearances for the nation.

Musa played his first game for Nigeria in an AFCON qualifier against Madagascar on August 5, 2010. The Kano Pillars forward spent 15 years with the national team, scoring 18 goals in his 111 appearances. Musa holds a unique record as Nigeria’s all-time top scorer at the World Cup, with four goals across the 2014 and 2018 tournaments. Musa announced his retirement from the Super Eagles in December 2025.

4. Alex Iwobi — 101 caps (2015–present)

The Fulham midfielder reached the 100-appearance mark during Nigeria’s friendly against Portugal on June 10 in Leiria. Nigeria's last AFCON qualifier against Madagascar was his 101 appearances for the team.

Iwobi made his first appearance for the Super Eagles on October 8, 2015, in a friendly against DR Congo in Visé, Belgium, where he came on as a substitute for Ahmed Musa.

The former Arsenal man remains an active member of the squad and has been tipped to surpass Ahmed Musa’s record for the most appearances for Nigeria.

5. Moses Simon — 100 caps (2015–present)

Simon became the latest player to join the exclusive 100-cap club after coming on in the 61st minute to replace Samuel Chukwueze in Nigeria’s AFCON qualifying opener against Madagascar.

He made his debut for Nigeria in a friendly encounter against Uganda in March 2015.

Simon has managed 11 goals in his 100 appearances for Nigeria.
