Fresh INEC online registration rises to 1,609,98

Statistics released by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Monday indicated that the number of Nigerians who participated in the latest rounds of online Continuous Voter Registration has reached 1,609,98.

The commission also said that 195,591 citizens had completed their physical registration.

INEC National Commissioner and chairman (Information and Voter Education Committee), Festus Okoye, said these in a statement titled, ‘Update on the Continuous Voter Registration.’

He said, “The online pre-registration of voters has now entered its seventh week. In order to keep Nigerians informed about the progress of the exercise, the commission has been publishing weekly updates.

“As at 7 am today, Monday, August 9 2021, the number of online fresh registrants is now 1,609,981 while 195,591 citizens have completed their physical registration.

“The commission appeals to all eligible citizens to seize the opportunity of both the online and in-person processes to register as voters.”
