Free face masks, other coronavirus testing kits arrive Lagos

Free face masks, testing kits, protective gear, and other critical materials have constituted the large shipping consignment that has arrived Nigeria.

The consignment of medical supplies was donated by Alibaba founder, Jack Ma to aid African countries to fight the deadly coronavirus.

The total item given to Africa consisted of about five million face masks, 1.8 million testing kits, 60,000 protective gears and other critical materials that arrived Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa on Monday. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali has been coordinating their speedy distribution across the continent.

Nigeria's cargo was delivered on an Ethiopian Airline which arrived Lagos at about 3:20 p.m.

“We appreciate the donation of the Jack Ma Foundation and the generosity of Jack Ma. We admire Abiy Ahmed, our Prime Minister, for his initiative and organization of the entire coordination of the process,” Firihiewot Mekonnen, general manager of Ethiopian Airlines Nigeria said.

Recall that the Chinese businessman and founder of the Alibaba Group, Jack Ma, promised to support Africa with about medical supplies as the world battle the pandemic, exactly one week ago, MyNigeria.com reported.

The Ethiopian Government received over 6 million medical supplies as a result.
