The family of a four-year-old girl, Mirabel Ilemoh, who was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia, a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow, has sought the help of Nigerians for treatment.

It was learnt from both the medical reports of the patient and an appeal letter by the Gifting Volunteer Network that about N5.9m was needed for chemotherapy to save her life.

The letter by the GVN quoted her mother, Mrs Gloria Ilemoh, as saying, “Mirabel is the first of two children. She has been sick for months now. It hurts to see your child suffer, and you can’t help. My husband earns N27,000 as a salesman for a company. He can’t afford this huge amount. We are using this opportunity to seek help for my daughter who needs medical assistance.”

Also, the founder of the non-profit organisation, Belele David, stated in the appeal letter made available to PUNCH Metro on Sunday that Ilemoh’s case was a critical health condition while appealing to the public to save her life.

Meanwhile, her medical report from Irrua Specialist Hospital in Benin City, Edo State, which was made available to PUNCH Metro, indicated that the little girl was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia on May 28, 2023.

The report partly read, “A peripheral blood film showed the lymphocytes were increased in the film with numerous immature lymphoblasts, some having nucleoli and abundant cytoplasm (high NC ratio). The granulocytes and platelets were reduced on the film.”

To save Ilemoh, donations can be sent to Guaranty Trust Bank’s account number 0834080086 with Ilemoh Ochuwa Mirabel as the account name.
