Four held for ‘gang-raping’ two minors in Yobe

Four men have been arrested by the Police Command in Yobe State for allegedly gang-raping minors.

The men are Musa Mohammed, 25; Mohammed Dahiru, 27; and Adamu Saidu, 46. According to spokesman ASP Dungus Abdulkarim who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the suspected rapists were arrested December 25 by men of Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters for allegedly gang-raping a 13-year-old girl.

Abdulkarim alleged that the rapists took advantage of the Christmas break to lure the girl into Brema Primary School in Damaturu, having carnal knowledge of her, The Nations reports.

According to The Nations, the Geidam Divisional Police Headquarters on December 26 arrested Bako Umaru, 35, for allegedly abducting and raping an 11-year-old girl at Hausari, inflicting severe injury on her private parts.

Abdulkarim said the girl lost excess blood and was receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Damaturu.

He said Mohammed Jajere, 27, was on December 26 arrested by men of Gashua Divisional Police Headquarters for allegedly raping a young nursing mother at Garindalal area of Dagona Ward.

The spokesman said Jajere raped the woman, who was recuperating from childbirth when he broke into her home with the intent to steal, according to The Nations.

He said the cases were undergoing ‘discreet’ investigation, adding that the perpetrators would be prosecuted after investigations.
