The Managing Director of Noble Merry Empowerment Foundation, Mrs Ogechi Iwunze-Anthony, has reiterated the foundation’s commitment to ensuring food security for families in Lagos and other states.
Iwunze-Anthony, who runs an NGO focused on fighting hunger and malnutrition in society, disclosed this while speaking in the light of the present economic realities nationwide, as the foundation unveiled its new head office in Lagos.
In a statement on Thursday, she stated that the foundation believes in the maxim – ‘We rise by lifting others.’ She said the foundation, which is run strictly as an NGO, enables households to feed their families comfortably throughout the year by empowering members through gifts, foodstuffs, etc.
The unveiling of their new head office commenced with prayers by the Parish Priest of St. Jesus the Saviour Catholic Church, Rev Father Joseph Ozo, and that of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ikorodu, Rev Father Pascal Aggrey.
The ribbon of the new office building was cut by a lawyer, Mrs Oge Nweke, who is the mentor of Iwunze- Anthony. Many beneficiaries of the organisation, including schoolchildren, felicitated with the group.
Asked why the schoolchildren came to the event with their teachers, Iwunze-Antony explained that Noble Merry runs a programme tagged “Back to School”, wherein the foundation helps indigent pupils by paying their school fees, buying books and other educational materials.
She said the organisation also run another programme tagged “Street feeding”, where it goes out en masse to feed the indigent and homeless on the streets of Lagos.
On how the foundation is funded, the CEO said a board of kindhearted individuals with vision provide funds for the organisation, adding that friends also donate generously to the group.
