Former presidential candidate Olapade Agoro dies at 77

Olapade Agoro, a well-spoken and vibrant clergyman and politician, died at the age of 77 following what family sources called a brief illness.

He died in a yet-to-be-named hospital.

In 2019, who had contested for the presidential election, further tested the waters on the platform of the National Action Council (NAC), a platform through which he had declared his ambition in 2018 ahead of the poll which was eventually won by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Vanguard quotes a son of the deceased, Adebo, as confirming the death of his father on Sunday, November 1.

Adebo was quoted as saying:

“My father died after a brief illness.”Agoro, a prince, was born on October 9, 1943, at Ajibabi village of Ibadan where he made his last declaration for the presidential election in 2018 ahead of the last general poll.

He was born to the late Omo-Oba Owa Tapa Joshua Alaba Agoro and the 'Mother in Israel' Dorcas Oyejola Asabi Agoro.
