Fire guts Guinness warehouse in Lagos

Residents of Oluwole Estate Ogba have been left in shock after fire gutted a warehouse belonging to Guinness Nig Ltd.

According to reports, the warehouse located at Wempco Road, filled with plastic crates was engulfed in fire at 4 am.

The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the incident, despite not speaking to the cause of the fire.

“On arrival at the scene of the incident at 0430am, it was observed that a warehouse storing plastic crates which appear to belong to the Guinness Nigeria Limited and used to store plastic crates, had been burnt.

“The immediate cause of the fire could not be determined. However, the agency’s responders and LASG Fire Service officials are on ground to carry out a dampening exercise to forestall any spread or secondary incident.”

The Fire Services are currently on ground and the outbreak has been put under control.

The value of goods lost to the fire hasn't yet being ascertained, however, reports suggest it could be well into the millions.
