Fire breaks out at Murtala Muhammed International Airport

There was confusion at the international wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport this morning as a fire broke out in the basement of the airport.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the fire originated from a malfunctioning cable on the Tarmac.

Allegedly, the fire had already damaged a portion of the FAAN administrative office the previous night.

There are also reports that the fire had already caused significant damage to a portion of the administrative office of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) the night before, further exacerbating the situation.

Authorities swiftly responded by evacuating all passengers and staff from the affected building.

However, a witness noted that passengers located at a security point that was still active were not informed of the fire till "it almost consumed" them.
