US-based Nigerian filmmakers, Faith Ojo has shared an open letter to men in reaction to the rape and murder of a UNIBEN student, Uwaila Omozuwa.

Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100 level student of Microbiology, was raped and bashed with a fire extinguisher in the head by unknown men.

She was found in serious condition inside a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, in Edo State where she had gone to read at night.

The news of her death has sparked outrage on social media with many calling for justice and the arrest of the perpetrators.

Lending her voice in condemnation of the murder, Faith Ojo wondered why women now have to live in fear.

"It is sad !! Women now have to live in fear, fear of being a woman, fear of being comfortable in a dress, fear of walking freely In our streets, fear of living with Men with no sexual control. Fear of men given guns and given control.

"Should we be scared of being a woman? Shame on you if you have ever taken advantage of a woman! Shame on you if you have ever gone overboard with the power given to you.

"It’s supposed to be a new month with a new start but how do we start knowing killers live freely? How do we start knowing we have the wrong people in power with no concern for lives and property. God help us #justiceforuwa", she wrote.
