The Federal Ministry of Health has cautioned Nigerians against embarking on unnecessary social activities and travels as the country records more coronavirus cases.

According to the ministry, travelling should be reduced to its barest minimum to avoid a second wave.

So far, 67,557 Nigerians have been affected by the virus, while, the death toll stands at 1,173.

Speaking at the Joint National Briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on coronavirus, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire believes this will help curb the possible spike in the spread of COVID-19.

“Travel over the upcoming holiday period should be restricted and all associated social activities, curtailed," he said.

“Nigerians are advised to cut off all travels, especially international travels, most especially travels to high burden countries except it is very urgent. “This is particularly important given the threat posed by the spiralling rate of infection in countries with which Nigeria has strong political, business, social and family relations."

The minister reminded Nigerians that coronavirus was not over yet.
