Federal govt reels out plans to end malnutrition

Clem Ikanade Agba, the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, has stated that, to reduce the over 2.5 million acutely malnourished and stunted children, the government is implementing innovative strategies and policies that are well funded, data-driven and sustainable.

According to Agba, the process would be optimized in terms of transparency and accountability for the efforts to yield the desired results.

He made the statement on Monday, November 16, at the 2020 Nigeria Nutrition Week, the flag off/joint ministerial Press briefing held in Abuja.

He noted that Nigeria was reported to have the second highest burden of stunted children in the world, with an estimated 2.5 million children under the age of 5 years suffering from severe acute malnutrition.

“We must also continue to work collaboratively across all levels of governments, and hand-in-hand with the private sector and development partners in this regard,” he said.
