Former Minister of Aviation and incoming Ambassador, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticized Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), over his recent remarks about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Fani-Kayode responded after Momodu appeared on Channels Television, where he allegedly compared Tinubu’s leadership style to that of former Military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, Fani-Kayode expressed his disappointment with Momodu, suggesting he should step back from political commentary to reflect on his views.
He accused Ovation Magazine’s publisher of showing disrespect to key government officials, including the President, Vice President, ministers, senators, and newly appointed ambassadors, many of whom have extensive governance experience.
Fani-Kayode also criticized the ADC, calling the party weak, poorly organized, and lacking the capacity to act as a credible opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
He emphasized that the ADC should focus on building a stronger internal structure instead of criticising the ruling APC, pointing out that the increasing support for the party indicates public confidence in Tinubu’s administration.
“The ADC cannot even be described as a sinking ship but rather as a badly patched-up inflatable plastic lifeboat that has not even managed to find its bearing or leave the harbour.
“It has no engine, no sails, no oars, no captain, no crew, no navigational equipment, no muscle, no firepower, no war chest, no destination, and worse of all, it is made of rubber and not steel.
“How can such an ill-prepared contraption even float, let alone do battle?
“It cannot possibly survive the rough seas and harsh winds of Nigerian politics because it lacks gravitas, focus, character, intelligence, discipline and strength,” he said.
