FULL LIST: Tinubu confers national honours on Omatseye, Otitoju, Alake, 47 others for June 12 democracy struggle

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced plans to confer national honours on a wide range of Nigerians, including journalists, activists, academics, legal practitioners, and military officers, in recognition of their roles in the June 12 pro-democracy struggle and the broader fight against military rule.

According to the Presidency, the awardees endured persecution, detention, exile, and various forms of repression during the struggle for the restoration of democratic governance in Nigeria, with their contributions described as “instrumental to the democracy enjoyed today.”

According to the president, the honours list will be released in the next few days.
